Family Day

We had the most amazing family day today and it was all inspired by the imagination of a 6 year old. I am guilty, probably more than a lot, of not making enough time for my family. It's just that so many things seem so important at the time and then once they are done, so is the day, so is the chance to enjoy the time with the people that mean the most to me. So, thank you G. for reminding me how fun family time can be and how much I am missing by always looking ahead and not enjoying the blessings right in front of me!

It all started with the metal detector that we gave G. for Christmas. He immediately wanted to take it to the 'woods' near our house and search for treasures. So, today we did. We walked and walked and walked. We ended up at the river, which turned out to be more fun than you could imagine and not because of the water, but because of the make shift bridge across the shallow water, the sea shells,

the buried tires, the animal bones,

the sand slide, the sand angels, and most of all the laughter and smiles of all involved.

Thank you to my family for a wonderful day...I won't EVER forget it.

It's All Over

Well, it has come and gone...Christmas that is. What a whirlwind of activity...here, there, a different there, here, and there again! It's all so worth it in the end. It may wear us out, but how else would we make these kind of memories! A couple of highlights, documented in pictures are below.

First Round

The first round of Christmas events is over. Christmas in Enid with the Haws side of the family was this weekend, along with Christmas at Maws house. All was fun and exciting. It is especially funny to watch the kiddos all interact when they haven't seen each other in months. It is also amazing to realize just how fast they grow up. It seems like just a couple of years ago that we were still 'the kiddos.' Not so much anymore. As can be seen below, my grandmother, Gram, now has 7 great grand-kids...all under the age of 6! (and we got them all in one picture...even more amazing!)

WOW...makes for a loud household when they are all around! (Just listen)

In case I don't make it back before Christmas, may you all have a wonderful and enjoyable Christmas this week.

Here we are

Well, I have finally decided to put forth the effort of trying to keep up a simple blog for our family. I am sure it won't be updated as much as I would like for it to be, but I will do my best to update it every once in awhile with anything exciting happening in our lives!

For now, our excitement revolves around the joy of Christmas. We are still a week away from Christmas and yet this has by far been the most fun Christmas I have had in a very long time. It is just so much fun to watch the amazement in Mack's eyes when we talk about Santa, Christmas trees, Jesus, presents, EVERYTHING. She just loves it. (and so do we) She has helped to pick out almost all the presents this year and I think she has only told two people what they are getting....not bad considering how big our circle of family and friends is. One of those persons is myself, the conversation was as follows:

"Look momma, we got you a present (handing me the present). It is a secret though, you have to wait until Christmas Day!"
I respond in a very excited voice "Oh wow, how neat, I wonder what it is?"
Whispering to me she says "It's a necklace!"
Oops, I guess I caused that!

Bottom line, I feel like a little kid this Christmas...I can't wait for Christmas eve so we can leave our cookies and milk for Santa and watch the anticipation in her eyes. Then get up super early the following morning to watch her open all the presents. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful family and get to enjoy this wonderful time of year with them!
